‘THE ENFORCERS’ · ATLAS BASKETBALL ACADEMY · SEPTEMBER 2026 EVOLUTION PHASE

one month. four pillars.an enforcer enforces the standard.

The Enforcers is September’s evolution phase — built on the Detroit teams that won in 1989, 1990 and 2004: three titles across fifteen years, every one of them earned at the defensive end first. Single month registration puts your athlete in all eight sessions, the full at-home Homework Lab, the leaderboard, and The Palace on September 30.

That is the difference between a week and a month. A week teaches one skill. A month builds a chain. September’s four pillars are one continuous possession — stop it, claim it, send it, and talk it through.

Athletes train in a small-group lab and are placed by skill, not age. Coach Adrian Mercado runs the Rookie Lab for beginners (guidance ages 7–9). Coach Jaire Roberts runs the Rotation Lab for intermediate players (guidance ages 10–14). Ages are guidance only — coaches place every player where they will be challenged. The phase is designed by Dr. Julian Penaranda, a Doctor of Physical Therapy — so athletes build skill and protect growing bodies.

OPENS FRI AUG 28

Registration opens Friday, August 28 at 12:00 PM PT. The phase itself starts Wednesday, September 9. Set a reminder — September is capped at 30 athletes total, and the full-month lane fills first.

EIGHT SESSIONS · FULL PHASE ACCESS

the four pillars

Every week trains one pillar, taught on night one and tested on night two. They run in order because they are one possession — stop it, claim it, send it, talk it through.

WEEK 01

get it back

Wed Sep 9 · Fri Sep 11 · 5:30–7:00 PM
ROTATIONSTAKEAWAY

Help-side defense taught through 3v2 and 4v3 — the defense is outnumbered on purpose, and the only way to score is to earn a stop. Rotate, close out, take the ball back.

BUILT FOR the athlete who guards their own man and nobody else.

WEEK 02

that’s mine

Mon Sep 14 · Wed Sep 16 · 5:30–7:00 PM
BOARDSBOX OUT

Find your box-out, hold your ground, come down with it in two hands. The rebound is not the end of the defensive possession — it is the first link in the break.

BUILT FOR the athlete who watches the ball instead of hitting somebody.

WEEK 03

send it

Mon Sep 21 · Wed Sep 23 · 5:30–7:00 PM
OUTLETUNDER PRESSURE

Secure the board with traffic already closing on you — and still make the first pass. Turn, find the outlet, get it up the floor before the defense is set. Not the prettiest pass. The one that survives contact.

BUILT FOR the athlete who grabs the board and then dribbles into traffic.

WEEK 04

mic up

Mon Sep 28 · Wed Sep 30 · 5:30–7:00 PM
TALKTHE PALACE

Call it early, name the man, answer the call. The quietest team on the floor is usually the one losing. Week 4 closes with The Palace.

BUILT FOR the athlete who plays hard and says nothing.

what 90 minutes looks like

The drills change with the week’s pillar. The structure never does: warm-up → block training → constraint-led drills → competition → conclusion.

5:15–5:30
Doors open · check-in
5:30–6:00
Warm-ups · dynamic + ball-handling
6:00–6:30
Skills · block training, high volume reps
6:30–6:55
Competition · constraint-led, scored reps
6:55–7:00
Conclusion · cooldown + dismissal

questions parents ask

why is there a friday session?

Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7, so the gym is dark and week one opens on Wednesday the 9th. To keep week one a full two sessions, the second one runs Friday, September 11. Every other week is the usual Monday and Wednesday. Put it in your calendar now — it is the session families most often miss, and perfect attendance is 8 of 8.

my child has never played basketball — is this okay?

Yes. The Rookie Lab is built for beginners — every drill is broken down to age-appropriate distances and progressions. Your athlete will be challenged, not overwhelmed.

what if my athlete is more advanced?

Placement is by skill, not age. The Rotation Lab handles intermediate athletes ready for game-speed reads. Coaches do a quick assessment on arrival and place your athlete where they’ll be challenged.

what is the homework lab?

Twelve at-home drills released across the month, three per pillar. Each one is a short solo rep your athlete films or logs, due exactly three days after it drops, 11:59 PM PT. Their coach grades it and it counts toward the leaderboard. The first drop is Thursday September 10 and the last is due Tuesday September 29 — one clear grading day before the championship. It is the part parents tell us changes the most.

what happens at the palace?

September 30 is championship night. Both labs play, and every award is handed out the same evening — The Standard, The Breakthrough Award, the Triple Double Award, The Connector, and a Completion Certificate for every finisher. The Champions Wall goes up before families leave the building. Bring your camera.

what if we miss a session?

Tell us before the session and we’ll do our best to slot your athlete into another night in the same phase. Up to two make-ups per phase. Without advance notice, a missed session can’t be made up.

when does registration open?

Friday, August 28 at 12:00 PM PT. That is when every September lane goes live — single month, recurring, both day passes, weekly and drop-in. Capacity is 30 athletes for the whole phase and the full-month lane is the first to fill, so set a reminder rather than checking back.

do we have to keep paying after september?

No. Single month registration is exactly one month — it ends September 30 and does not renew. If you want to keep going, the recurring lane is there at a lower monthly rate.

what should we bring?

Athletic shoes (court shoes preferred), a water bottle, comfortable athletic clothing, and a basketball if you have one — we provide balls if not. Arrive 10 minutes early for placement.

what’s the refund policy?

Monthly registrations are final sale — non-refundable and non-transferable. Missed sessions are not reimbursed. We plan coaching and lab placement around your reservation.

session rules

  • Online registration recommended — limited walk-in availability
  • Game-speed reps, high energy, high focus
  • Athletes are expected to compete, communicate, and stay engaged

  • Coaches may adjust drills or intensity to keep the session safe and productive
