coach adrian mercado
the base under the skill.
footwork, balance, and mechanics that hold up when you’re tired.
adrian works on footwork, balance, and repeatable mechanics — the physical foundation that makes every skill on top of it more effective.
sessions run high-energy and detail-obsessed. nothing is left as “good effort.” players leave with specific, actionable things to fix, not general encouragement.
a certified personal trainer through NASM, and a core member of the atlas staff.
he went and learned why bodies break down. then he built a base that doesn’t.
adrian trained to play. he went the juco route out of high school and did what he had always done — hours in the gym, film, and the kind of repetition nobody watches.
then he made a decision most players never make. instead of drifting away from the game, he went and studied the body that plays it: a bachelor’s in kinesiology from unlv, then his CPT through NASM. not a replacement for basketball — the layer underneath it. and he never stopped playing; he still runs, still trains, still competes.
it is why his sessions start at the feet. footwork, balance, and mechanics that still repeat when a player is tired, because a skill that only works fresh is not a skill yet.
most trainers can tell your player what to fix. adrian can tell them why it is breaking — and build the base so it stops.
best for
if any of these describe your player, book adrian.
the feet arrive late, or in the wrong order, and everything downstream is a half-second behind.
the shot or the finish works in a drill and falls apart in a game. it needs to repeat under fatigue.
a young or developing player who needs a real foundation built in order, not a highlight package.
“my daughter’s handle and finishing completely changed. two months with coach adrian and she went from bench to starter on her high school team.”

training 2–4× a month is where players move fastest. packages lower the per-session rate across any trainer.
what an hour looks like
no guessing. every minute is planned before you walk in.
a skill evaluation and a real conversation about goals. adrian finds the gap between what you can do in a drill and what shows up in a game.
footwork and body control get built before the flashy stuff. skills stacked on a bad base come apart the first time a defender speeds you up.
reps run until the movement is the same tired as it was fresh. that’s the only version of a skill a game will let you use.
every rep gets coached out loud. players leave with named things to fix — not “keep working hard.”

build the base.
footwork, balance, mechanics. the boring part that makes everything else work.
