what this is

a real session, no membership required.

the drop-in exists for two kinds of families: the ones who want to try ATLAS before committing to a month, and the ones who just need one session — a cousin in town, a school break, a single training need. either way it is the real September curriculum, the real coaches, and the real labs. your athlete walks in, gets assessed, and trains alongside full-month members that night.

every session runs the same arc the rest of the academy runs: warm-up → block training → constraint-led drills → competition → conclusion. 90 minutes. coach Adrian Mercado runs the Rookie Lab, coach Jaire Roberts runs the Rotation Lab, and placement is by skill, not age. the phase is designed by Dr. Julian Penaranda, a Doctor of Physical Therapy — so athletes build skill and protect growing bodies at the same time.

September teaches defense. the four weeks are stay in front, cover for me, that’s mine, and sprint back — one continuous possession. whichever night you drop into, that week’s pillar is what your athlete works on.

is this right for your athlete?

who the drop-in is built for.

ideal for

  • families who want to try one night before enrolling
  • athletes visiting from out of town
  • kids on a school break wanting one focused training day
  • parents who heard about ATLAS and want to see it in person
  • current members bringing a friend or a sibling

consider a day pass or the full month if

  • you already know your athlete needs real skill development
  • you want them working the whole four-week progression, not one night of it
  • you are trying to beat the $25 single rate — day passes run $20 a session
  • the Homework Lab, the leaderboard or award eligibility matter to your athlete — those come with full-month enrollment only

compare the lanes

the ways to train in september.

every lane gets the same coaching on the floor. only the full-month lanes unlock the Homework Lab, the leaderboard and award eligibility. September has three Mondays and four Wednesdays, so the two day passes are not the same size — the price follows the session count.

straight answers

questions parents ask.

Why is there a Friday session?
Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7, so the gym is dark and week one opens on Wednesday the 9th. To keep week one a full two sessions, the second one runs Friday, September 11. Every other week is the usual Monday and Wednesday. If you are booking a drop-in in week one, those are your two nights.
My child has never played basketball — is this okay?
Yes, and the drop-in is the right way to find out. The Rookie Lab is built for beginners — every drill is broken down to age-appropriate distances and progressions. Your athlete will be challenged, not overwhelmed.
September teaches defense. Will my athlete actually play?
Yes. You cannot teach defense without an offense — every rep has somebody on the other end trying to score. Athletes get both ends of the floor. What changes in September is which end we are grading.
What if my athlete is more advanced than the Rookie Lab?
Placement is by skill, not age. The Rotation Lab handles athletes ready for game-speed reads. Coaches assess on arrival — a 9-year-old ready for Rotation goes to Rotation, and a developing 11-year-old who needs foundational work stays in Rookie without it feeling like a step down.
What should we bring?
Court shoes, a water bottle, comfortable athletic clothing, and a basketball if you have one — we provide balls if not. Doors open at 5:15, which is time enough to get loose and get placed before 5:30.
Can my athlete drop in mid-phase?
Yes, any session of the phase. Each week teaches its own pillar, so there is no week you cannot walk into. Weeks one and two are stance and team defense, which is the most natural entry for a first-timer. Weeks three and four are boards and transition, which run at game speed.
Do drop-ins get awards or the Homework Lab?
No. The Homework Lab, the leaderboard and the phase awards — The Standard, The Breakthrough Award, the Triple Double Award, The Connector and the Completion Certificate — are for full-month registrations. Drop-in athletes train in gym and get a coach’s note, which is a real piece of feedback you can use even if you never come back.
Can we watch a session first instead?
Absolutely, and for free. Come a few minutes early, stay for the warm-ups, leave when you have seen what you need. Watching costs nothing. Playing costs $25.
What about refunds?
Pass terms are confirmed at checkout. If something comes up, tell us before your session and we will do our best to move you to another night in the same phase — we plan coaching and lab placement around your reservation, so a no-show takes a spot another family could have used.
Can I drop in more than once?
You can, but the math stops favouring it quickly. Two drop-ins is $50; the Monday pass is $60 for three sessions and the Wednesday pass is $80 for four, both at $20 a session. If your athlete is doing two or more nights in September, a day pass is the cheaper answer.
first impressions matter.
