September’s evolution phase, built on the Detroit teams that won in 1989, 1990 and 2004 — three titles across fifteen years, every one of them earned at the defensive end first. Single month registration puts your athlete in all eight sessions, the full Homework Lab, the leaderboard, and The Palace on September 30.
That is the difference between a week and a month. A week teaches one skill. A month builds a chain. September’s four pillars are one continuous possession — guard him, help him, claim it, and sprint back.
Athletes train in a small-group lab and are placed by skill, not age. Coach Adrian Mercado runs the Rookie Lab (guidance ages 7–9). Coach Jaire Roberts runs the Rotation Lab (guidance ages 10–14). Ages are guidance only. The phase is designed by Dr. Julian Penaranda, a Doctor of Physical Therapy — so athletes build skill and protect growing bodies at the same time.
The phase starts Wednesday, September 9. September is capped at 30 athletes total across both labs — not 30 per lab — and the full-month lane fills first. Registration closes at noon on Labor Day, two days before the first session, and the roster is final at that moment.
Single month registration is $149 for all of September — every session, the Homework Lab, leaderboard points, award eligibility, and The Palace. One month, no renewal, nothing to cancel. It ends September 30.
Every week trains one pillar, taught on night one and tested on night two. They run in order because they are one possession — guard him, help him, claim it, sprint back.
Stance, slides and on-ball containment. Beat him to his spot, stay chest-to-ball, and make him go where you want him to go. The ball handler gets the other half of it — keeping a live handle when somebody is doing this to you.
Off-ball defense, help and switching, drilled in shell. Five defenders on one string — every switch called out loud, every closeout covered by somebody behind it. Nobody guards alone.
Find your box-out, hold your ground, come down with it in two hands — and be first to every loose ball. The stop is not a stop until somebody owns the ball. That is the whole reason the other three weeks exist.
Transition defense. Beat the ball down the floor, find a man, protect the rim before it gets there — on tired legs, because that is when it counts. Week 4 closes with The Palace.
The drills change with the week’s pillar. The structure never does: warm-up → block training → constraint-led drills → competition → conclusion.

And this is just the start.
Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7, so the gym is dark and week one opens on Wednesday the 9th. To keep week one a full two sessions, the second one runs Friday, September 11. Every other week is the usual Monday and Wednesday. Put it in your calendar now — it is the session families most often miss, and perfect attendance is 8 of 8.
Yes. The Rookie Lab is built for beginners — every drill is broken down to age-appropriate distances and progressions. Your athlete will be challenged, not overwhelmed.
Placement is by skill, not age. The Rotation Lab handles athletes ready for game-speed reads. Coaches do a quick assessment on arrival and place your athlete where they will be challenged.
Ten at-home drills released across the month. Each one is a short solo rep your athlete films or logs, due exactly three days after it drops, 11:59 PM PT. Their coach grades it and it counts toward the leaderboard. The first drop is Thursday September 10 and the last is due Sunday September 27, leaving two clear days to grade before the championship. It is the part parents tell us changes the most.
September 30 is championship night. Both labs play, and every award is handed out the same evening — The Standard, The Breakthrough Award, the Triple Double Award, The Connector, and a Completion Certificate for every finisher. The Champions Wall goes up before families leave the building. Bring your camera.
Tell us before the session and we will do our best to slot your athlete into another night in the same phase. Up to two make-ups per phase. Without advance notice, a missed session cannot be made up.
Yes. Every September lane is live — single month, recurring, both day passes, weekly and drop-in. Registration closes Monday, September 7 at 12:00 PM PT. Capacity is 30 athletes for the whole phase and the full-month lane is the first to fill.
No. Single month registration is exactly one month — it ends September 30 and does not renew. If you want to keep going, the recurring lane is there at a lower monthly rate.

Pass terms are confirmed at checkout. Missed sessions are not reimbursed — we plan coaching and lab placement around your reservation — but up to two make-ups per phase are available with advance notice.
