the enforcers

the enforcers

an enforcer pushes the standard. nobody gets by you, nobody guards alone, everybody boxes out, everybody sprints back — every possession, all month.

full-month registration closed · spots full

full-month registration is closed. drop-in lanes are still open — $25 a session, $40 a week, $60 mondays, $80 wednesdays.

see it before you buy it

ninety minutes on our floor. nobody standing in a line waiting for a turn — watch a session before you decide anything.

this phase teaches toughness, and that is not for every family

athletes learn to play strong through traffic. rookie lab works against pads and coach-held shields, never against another athlete, and landing on two feet is taught first every session. nobody is taught to foul, retaliate, or play injured. if that is not what you want for your athlete this month, the weekly lane is a better fit than the full month — and we would rather tell you now than on night one.

who is on the floor

a month about toughness is the one month you want a movement professional designing it — and four coaches who have all played.

coach · nasm-cpt

adrian mercado

rookie lab. teaches movement first — the footwork every other skill stacks on.

coach

jaire roberts

rotation lab. reads the game two passes ahead. las vegas aces court attendant and practice player.

coach

kj johnson

on the floor. grit and defense. if your athlete starts coasting, kj notices first.

coach

kwe riddles

on the floor. soft-spoken right up until he is not. basketball is music to his ears.

founder · dr. julian penaranda, pt, dpt

designed by a doctor of physical therapy

most youth basketball is run by former players. this phase is designed by a doctor of physical therapy, so athletes build skill and protect growing bodies at the same time. in a month about toughness that is not a detail — it is the reason it is safe to teach.

ready when you are

that is the phase, and who runs it

eight sessions across september, four pillars, one championship night. if that is enough to go on, this is the way in — or come to a single session first and decide after.

what this actually is

atlas basketball academy is a youth basketball development program in las vegas for ages 7 to 14. we run month-long evolution phases — four themed weeks of skill work with a championship at the end — instead of one-week drop-off programs. the enforcers is our september phase.

  • a lab is one of our two coaching groups.
  • a pillar is the single skill we drill for a week.
  • homework is a short drill filmed at home between sessions.
  • the champions wall is the wall in our gym where every award winner stays permanently.

what you are actually buying.

the drop-off week

five mornings of scrimmages. everyone rotates through the same stations, nothing is measured, and on friday it ends with a t-shirt and no way to tell if anything changed.

the evolution phase

four themed weeks, one skill per week, homework between sessions, weekly grading, a live leaderboard your family can watch, and a championship night where the awards are earned.

three titles. one standard.

detroit did not win once and get remembered for it. tenacious defense, aggressive rebounding, real depth, nobody taking a possession off — they won the same way fifteen years apart. one team can be tough. three means it is who you are.

1989 champs 1990 champs 2004 champs

what we build

those detroit teams never had the best player on the floor. they had five who made every possession expensive.

week 1 · sep 9 + 11

stay in front

stance and slides, one-on-one. beat him to his spot and make him go where you want him to go. the ball handler gets the other half of it.

week 2 · sep 14 + 16

cover for me

off-ball defense, help and switching, drilled in shell. five defenders on one string, every switch called out loud, nobody guarding alone.

week 3 · sep 21 + 23

that’s mine

boards. find your box-out, hold your ground, come down with the ball in two hands — and be first to every loose ball.

week 4 · sep 28 + 30

sprint back

transition defense. beat the ball down the floor, find a man, protect the rim before it gets there — on tired legs, because that is when it counts.

the palace · wednesday, sep 30

championship & awards

the last session of the month. championship games, every award handed out the same night, and the champions wall updated before families leave the building.

note the schedule: september opens with a wednesday and one friday session (sep 11) instead of the usual monday. every other week runs the normal monday and wednesday.

before you keep reading

the full-month lane fills first

september caps at thirty athletes across both labs, and only the full-month lanes unlock the homework lab and the leaderboard.

where does your athlete train?

athletes are placed by skill, not by age. the ages below are guidance. coaches make the call on night one, and it is about pacing — not about who is better.

usually ages 7–9

rookie lab

coach adrian mercado, nasm-cpt. footwork, hands and effort before anything flashy. toughness work here is against pads and coach-held shields, never against another athlete. most athletes in this lab are new. that is normal.

usually ages 10–14

rotation lab

coach jaire roberts. live reps, controlled and whistled tight. reads at game speed under pressure, and a role you are expected to own before the ball moves.

nobody is good yet.

detroit’s best defender went undrafted. that is the entire point of a phase.

  • no tryout, no evaluation to get in, no experience required.
  • labs are about pacing, not ranking — nobody is the “bad” group.
  • 7-year-olds are not put in drill lines with 14-year-olds.
  • first-timers every single phase. your athlete will not be the only one.
  • parents are welcome to stay and watch, or drop off. your call.
  • not sure yet? come to one session for $25 before committing to a month.

the work follows them home

the homework lab is a private page for enrolled families. short drills post across the month, filmed at home, feeding the same leaderboard as everything in the gym.

10

drills across the month, each named after a player from detroit’s title teams.

3

days to submit. every drill drops on a non-session day and is due three days later at 11:59 pm pt.

1

live board. attendance, streaks, connector nominations and homework all feed one ranking.

homework is included with full-month registrations. enrolled families get the access code in their welcome email.

what it costs

six ways in, across five cards — the once-per-week card holds both weekdays. every lane gets the same coaching on the floor — the two full-month lanes are the only ones that also unlock the homework lab and the leaderboard.

every award is handed out on sep 30 at the palace — and every winner goes up on the champions wall for good.

the standard

mvp. an enforcer pushes the standard — this goes to the athlete who set it and dragged everyone else up to it. one rookie lab, one rotation lab.

triple double award

did it all — finished on top of the board across every column. one athlete, phase-wide.

the breakthrough award

most improved — walked in one player, walked out another. coach’s call at the final session. one rookie lab, one rotation lab.

the connector

took what we taught that night and used it in live competition an hour later. one rookie, one rotation, every session.

completion certificate

every athlete who attends, submits, and finishes the phase.

and this is just the start.

faq

my athlete has never played. is this too advanced?
no. there is no tryout and no experience requirement. rookie lab exists for athletes starting from zero, and every phase has first-timers in it.
are 7-year-olds training with 14-year-olds?
not in the same drill lines. the two labs run their own progressions with their own coach. they share a gym and a warm-up, not a workload.
what if we miss a session?
tell us in advance and we will work with you — up to two make-ups per phase. without notice we cannot hold a spot open.
this phase is about toughness. is my athlete going to get hurt?
it is the question worth asking, and it is why the phase is designed by a doctor of physical therapy. rookie lab works against pads and coach-held shields, never against another athlete. landing mechanics are taught first, every session. nobody is taught to foul, retaliate, or play injured.
do i stay, or drop off?
either. parents are welcome to stay and watch the whole session, and plenty do. plenty also drop off and come back at 7:00. both are normal.
what should my athlete bring?
court shoes, a water bottle, and athletic clothes they can move in. we supply the basketballs. doors open at 5:15 so there is time to get loose before 5:30.
is there a waiver?
yes. every athlete needs one on file before their first session — sign the athlete waiver here. it takes about two minutes.
what happens after september?
phase 07 starts in october with a new theme, new pillars, and a new championship night. recurring monthly families roll into it automatically. single-month families re-register.
roster full · drop-ins open · october opens wed 9/23

september’s roster is full.
october opens on wednesday, 9/23/26.

all thirty full-month spots went in ten days, and registration closed monday, september 7 at noon. that is the whole roster — graded, ranked, on the leaderboard, on the champions wall. it is closed until october.

what is still open is the drop-in lanes. same floor, same coaches, same night — one session, one week, mondays or wednesdays. it is the only way onto this floor in september, and each lane closes the moment it fills.

october registration opens wednesday, september 23, on a session night, while the phase is still running — so the families already in the building get first look. recurring members roll straight in and never touch a form. everyone else re-registers, and september sold out in ten days.
