frequently asked questions
how do I know if my athlete is at the ‘beginner’ or ‘intermediate’ level?
we base our skill level off of usa basketball guidelines, fiba youth guidelines, and our past experience with the athletes we’ve worked with in the past.
below are the guidelines that we’ve summarized to differentiate the skill levels.
beginner
(foundation stage)
beginner athletes are still learning how basketball works.
this level is best for players who are building:
- fundamental footwork and coordination
- basic dribbling, passing, and shooting form
- understanding spacing, rules, and court structure
- confidence through repetition
perfect for newer hoopers (0–2 years experience).
intermediate
(development stage)
intermediate athletes have solid fundamentals & are learning how to apply them to live play.
this level is best for players who are ready for:
- game-speed reps with coaching feedback
- improved shot consistency & ball control
- basic reads (cuts, help defense, kick-outs)
- structured team concepts
ideal for players with 2-5 years of experience or competitive play exposure.
if you believe your athlete is at a greater skill level than outlined, please check out our beginner camps.
